Elders, Citizens, and community members are invited to join us on Thursday, August 29 at 3:00pm for a blessing ceremony for the new Elders’ Complex Site. The proposed site location will be on the corner of Third Avenue and York St. Light refreshments will be provided.
- This complex has long been requested by Citizens, and will provide a mix of supported and independent living, including community space for gathering with family, youth, and children.
- The facility will include a shared programming space and kitchen, as well as barrier-free and accessible individual living units. We have selected a site close to the Chief John Jonas Centre and other TH housing to contribute to a feeling of community and connectedness among residents.
- The exterior and interior of the project will be designed with Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in history and cultural values in mind, and with the input of TH Elders.
This housing project will be funded by the National Indigenous Collaborative Housing Inc. We hope you can join us in this blessing and commemorate the journey ahead.
