Closure Notice

January 4, 2022

Dear TH Citizens,

In response to the sustained presence of COVID in our community and with an abundance of concern for the well-being of our Citizens’ and staff, the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in offices and Tr’inke Zho Day Care will be closed, with the exception of essential services, until January 10, 2022. At that point, we will re-evaluate the situation. More information will be available shortly for how Citizens can access services should they need to.

This brief pause was made given the uncertainty around the actual number of cases in our community. We know there are likely more cases than are being reported and are aware some people are experiencing delays in receiving test results. Our hope is the true picture will materialize over the next seven days, at which point we will be in a better position to determine next steps. For now, we will be cautious.

Limiting the spread of COVID requires your help, and we ask everyone to abide by the Yukon’s Chief Medical Officer of Health recommended public health safety measures, found at https://yukon.ca/en/news/additional-public-health-measures-introduced-response-spread-omicron-variant-yukon. Please limit contacts with others, follow the Safe 6, wear a mask, wash your hands often, arrange for testing if you have symptoms, no matter how mild, and please stay home if you’re feeling sick.

If you have any questions or would like a rapid test, please get in touch with Sean MacKenzie, TH Health and Safety/Emergency Response Officer at (403) 999-8820 or sean.mackenzie@trondek.ca.
