Call for Community Development Corporation Board Directors

CALL FOR BOARD MEMBERS

Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government (TH) is seeking individuals interested in being a Board Director of for the Community Development Corporation.

The Community Development Corporation Board is responsible for strategic direction and oversight of the Corporation, and will meet once per month.

Mandate:

Programs and projects undertaken by the Community Development Corporation will have benefits for the citizens of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, and will be designed to meet the specific needs and aspirations of citizens. Benefits for citizens can include training, capacity building, employment, business development and/or support, community projects, or wealth creation.

Although the Community Development Corporation is federally incorporated as a not-for-profit organization, it can have subsidiary incorporated businesses in order to take advantage of business opportunities presented to Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in. It can also hold title to land and assets.

All appointed Board Directors will:

• be at least 19 years of age;

• reside in Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Traditional Territory;

• have education or experience in business;

• have no record of bankruptcy within the past seven years;

• be willing to sign oaths or declarations related to confidentiality and conflicts of interest;

• be willing to sign and adhere to a code of conduct;

• be willing to attend training and strategic planning sessions in Dawson City as scheduled from time to time; and

• provide a security clearance and criminal records check
